Over
a period of eight months in 2004,
a group of fourteen nonprofit leaders
came together to address a critical
need of the Santa Clarita Valley.
With over 100 nonprofits locally,
and every agency working hard to
address specific community issues,
how can our nonprofits work together
to create a community in which service
to others and philanthropy become
a priority?
After numerous meetings,
the formation group created two
significant pieces of work. The
Vision of the Nonprofit Leaders
Council is to create a community
in which everyone is of service
and practices philanthropy. Our
Mission is to inspire and empower
each individual to work proactively
to make a difference in Santa Clarita
and the world.

This
picture of the formation committee
was taken at the first meeting of
the Nonprofit Leaders Council in
January 2005. Thirty
nonprofits signed up that night
to be part of the vision. In addition
to the Executive Committee members
listed below, formation committee
members included Brad Berens, Carl
Boyer, Brian Thorne and Wade Trimmer. |
